This morning we begin a most fascinating section of Romans, but also an often-misunderstood section of Romans. Romans 9-11 is a section of this book that is filled with doctrine that is both essential and practical and it is a section that is focused on the nation of Israel as God’s chosen people.

In Romans 8:28 we have a wonderful promise made by God to Christians, it is a promise of eternal security, or once saved always saved. This promise can easily be divided into four parts: first, knowing we are secure; second, our security in all things; third, those who are eternally secure; and fourth, the source of our security.

This morning we come to a verse that is probably familiar to a lot of you. It is a verse that I believe is often quoted out of context and because of this I believe that we need to look more closely at it. So, for this morning we are going to begin to look at just one verse, keeping my promise that we will be in Romans 8 for a long time.
